The Queer Liberation March was started in 2025 when members of the Madison Area Democratic Socialists of America, noticing the lack of an existing pride march in Madison, voted to organize their own march for queer liberation with explicitly socialist demands. Organizers from MADSA soon invited other socialist organizations to join in organizing the march, including Trans Resistance Action Committee, Socialist Alternative, Wisconsin Bail Out the People Movement, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. In June of 2025, this coalition hosted the first annual Madison Queer Liberation March and formalized a coordinating committee to organize future marches, as well as fundraising and educational events.
